Bordetella Vaccine

Canine Bordetella, also and commonly known as "Kennel Cough".This is an airborne virus that attacks the respiratory tract and is passed on from dog to dog.For more in depth information please visit http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_kennel_cough.html.Bordetella is given once yearly, except for the first time when given in two doses 3-4 weeks apart. After the second dose protection does not occur until 1-2 weeks after.Even though, intranasal vaccine is said to be a better protection it can cause serious complications in small Chihuahuas. So please, we really recommend the injectable Bordetella vaccine after the second set of shots(5-in-1) for the first dose and after the last set of (5-in-1)the last last dose.If you plan to take your Chihuahua to the groomers or training classes,or even boarding you are required to vaccinate against Bordetella every 6 months. Please, stay away from the nasal Bordetella vaccine to keep your Chihuahua safe from any harmful reactions. Thank you

New Parents

Congratulations to all and new Tinytot parents. Taking a new Tinytot home is always exciting and fun.Things to remember is to puppy proof your home.Chi-puppies love to explore their new environment so we have to make it very safe. They love to chew as this is the stage with their new teeth.Make sure to place a couple of Soft Chew toys for them.Soft chew toys must be small enough for them to handle and manipulate, but big enough so they cant swallow them. They need something to gnaw on while teething..Besides keeping Chi-puppies content,it promotes healthy gums and teeth.I also recommend puppy Nylabone products. Our Chihuahuas love the Chicken flavor Puppy Nylabone.Check out their website www.Nylabone.com.Also, a key thing to remember is an overabundance of toys scattered throughout the house may lead a puppy to believe that what ever he can reach is his to chew!I know we want to spoil our little ones, but we have to start off on the right track

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT

If you plan to visit our puppies in search for a puppy love, we really encourage you to make an appointment.Making an appointment with us is very easy and confirming an appointment DOES NOT obligate you to purchase or reserve a puppy.I make my self available to mostly accommodate your time schedule because puppies that are for sale are on a "First come First Serve" Basis.Normally, our puppies are reserved rather quickly so if you have your heart set on one come meet her/him as soon as possible. If you have not scheduled an appointment with us please give us a call ASAP.If you have an appointment pending and would like to come sooner I recommend you do so.We hope we have your PUPPY LOVE..Cant wait to meet you!

CHIHUAHUA SIZE CATEGORY

So many people will call looking for "teacups" or "toy" Chihuahuas. As an honest breeder I must inform the public of these unofficial terms. The fancy word "teacup" is often misused.People are lead to believe that a "teacup" 1 or 2lb Chihuahua puppy will stay this size forever and that it wont grow. The truth is that a Chihuahua puppy will reach mature weight around 18 months of age.So be careful with breeders advertising "Teacups"and promising size. If you want a very tiny Chihuahua that is guaranteed to stay tiny I suggest purchasing an older Chi close to adult age because we can only estimate using charts and analyzing the puppies line. Normally, a puppy weighing 1 pound after 6months will more than likely be very small. Our Bijou Mini was 2lbs after 6 months and kept growing, but I remember his growth slowing down after this age. He is an adult and still is in my opinion very small. All Chihuahuas are considered "Toy dogs" and according to dog kennel clubs a Chihuahua should weigh no more than 6lbs.It's very important not to compromise a dogs health or quality of life to satisfy our obsessions.
